Our Chiropractic Assistants are trained in the use of therapeutic ultrasound, which is one of the best treatments for acute muscle spasms. Ultrasound therapy penetrates the skin and muscles with sound waves, reaching deep into the muscle which allows the spastic muscle fibers to relax. It is used to pinpoint problem areas in the middle of a muscle and to relax trigger points. Muscles which become rigid due to years of overuse and tension are softened by the sound waves. It is a technique and technology that has been around for many years and is completely painless. Ultrasound is often used to warm up and soften muscles as a complement to the Graston Technique®.
- Improve muscle mobility & flexibility
- Increase blood circulation to injury
- Encourage tissue healing for tendon & ligament injuries
- Reduce pain and swelling
Our chiropractor assistants can modulate the level of ultrasound therapy delivered by changing the ultrasound beam frequency. For deep tissue injuries, a lower frequency is used to achieve deeper penetration while higher frequencies are programmed for injuries closer to the skin’s surface.
